Michiana Raceway Park Ready to Host WKA

One of largest kart racing events in America coming to South Bend area this weekend

NORTH LIBERTY, IN – Michiana Raceway Park, one of the leading kart racing facilities in the country, is in preparation of welcoming one of the most popular kart racing series in North America, the World Karting Association Manufacturer’s Cup Championship, for this coming weekend. Attracting racers from all over the country and Canada, the event will likely draw over 500+ entries over two days of competition.

“Looking at the number of racers that have pre-entered for the event, we expect this to be one of the biggest karting events on the east coast,” said Garry Lobaugh, President of Michiana Raceway Park. “While this will be a great event showcasing some of the country’s best kart racers, it is also a great family environment and we hope to see several local families out in support of our local racers competing.”

Located only miles from downtown South Bend, Michiana Raceway Park has been a haven for local kart racers for several years and continues to undergo upgrades and improvements to make it one of the nicest karting facilities in the country. With a family-friendly atmosphere, complete with several viewing areas and a playground, the track is an inviting place for both racers and spectators.

“We put a lot of pride in our facility,” said Lobaugh. “Though this weekend will play host to several hundred serious kart racers, we offer karting schools and karting leagues for people of all ages and experience level. Anyone can get started in racing here!”

The World Karting Association (WKA) is the largest sanctioning body for kart racing in North America with several championships up for grabs for karters of all ages. The Manufacturer’s Cup Series is one of the WKA’s most competitive series with many classes ranging from low-powered kid karts to high-powered 125cc water-cooled racing karts.

Michiana Raceway Park is anxious to begin the festivities of the event with move-in and parking beginning on Wednesday and practice beginning on Friday with a “Welcome Party” for competitors on Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday will be full of racing action and promises to showcase the talents of some of the best kart racers and future racing stars in the country. Prior to the event, the track is still open for group parties and corporate entertainment kart rentals or racing schools.

If you, or a family member, are interested in getting involved in karting, this weekend is a great time to learn. Spectator passes may be purchased $5 per day or if you would like to venture into the pit area, a pit pass is available at the gate.
