Red Line Oil Karting Championship begins the final four week

This Sunday, October 9th, the Red Line Oil Karting Championship (RLOKC) enters the final stretch of the 2011 season. All RLOKC classes will run this weekend on the Reverse Sprint configuration at the Simraceway Performance Karting Center at Infineon Raceway. This will be Round #7 of the 2011 season with the non-Rotax classes running their final race on November 6th. The Nor Cal Rotax Challenge (NCRC) classes have two remaining races after this weekend including the annual trip to the Kinsmen Kart Club track in Dixon on October 30th. The NCRC returns to Infineon Raceway for the final race of the year on November 6th.

The GoPro featured class this Sunday will be the DD2 Masters class with the winning driver taking home a GoPro HD Hero Camera. The DD2 Masters class is one of several classes with tight points races still in progress. In DD2 Masters, Michael Ostrowski and Andre Eriksen are battling for the championship. In 80 Masters, Roger Cornwall, with no main event wins this year, is leading in net points over three race winner Charles Hastings and two race winner Tom Nelson. In Senior Rotax, 2010 champ Carlos Calderon is trailing Niki Luna for the top spot. In Junior Rotax, Maxx Marian is leading Zack Dante and Will Preston. In 125 Shifter S4, Jim Inglebright has a slim lead over David Arnstein with Nick Galante close behind. Michael Michoff has five wins in the Sanzaru Games sponsored Rotax Mini Max class, but still needs solid performances to hold off the challenge of Annie Breidinger if he is to secure the class crown. Don Rocci has a solid lead over Ben Schreiner in the IAME TaG class. Cameron Evans holds a slim lead over Jerry Pretti in the Rotax Masters class with these two drivers exchanging wins all season long. And in Rotax Masters Light, Andrea Delfanti has all but clinched the class crown but a stronger battle is still in progress for the runner spot between David Carlisle, Mary Beth Wilson and Stephan Gaudreau.

With all the close points battles, lots of close racing is expected, so come out and see the action. Moondoggies will have food for sale on Sunday only this weekend with breakfast and lunch offerings as well as coffee and other drinks for sale.

Saturday will again be a practice day from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. Registration and pre-tech will be available on Saturday. The Sunday race program will begin at 8:20 am with the first practice session followed by qualifying, two 8 lap heat races and 15 lap mains starting at 2:40 pm. Admission for spectators is $10, $5 for kids 8 and under. Race entry is $100, transponder rental is $10 and Saturday practice is $50. Saturday and Sunday racer and spectator sign-ups will again be at the old Jim Russell administration building just to the right of the Main Gate as one drives into Infineon Raceway.
