WMX Rider Insight: Sayaka Kaneshiro

At the 13th annual 'A Day in the Dirt' I got a chance to talk with Sayaka "Teriyaki Sauce" Kaneshiro, WMX Pro #15

How was your racing today?

It was good, I thought we had a practice first, I went out and it was actually a race. I was just racing and riding around, I felt like ... WOW!

What did you think of the event overall?

It was to difficult racing for me, because I didn't ride my pace. I rode about 6th place, less than I wanted to. I got the same number as last year, I just tried to do my best.

TheTeaParty.net Launches TeaPartyRacing.com

Chris Lafferty will drive “We the People’s” Truck #89 NCWTS

Phoenix, AZ - The Tea Party.net has announced it will be teaming up with Lafferty Motorsports LLC to sponsor Chris Lafferty in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to promote limited government, personal responsibility and free markets within the Tea Party movement live to hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country and to receive publicity from the national television coverage,” said Todd Cefaratti, Freedom Organizer for TheTeaParty.net. “The best part is the sponsorship will not cost our non-profit organization or our donors a single cent. In fact, it is just the opposite. Over 50% on average of the money that is raised from sponsors for the racing team will be donated to TheTeaParty.net to be used to advance the Tea Party movement even more.”
The Truck which has already been dubbed “We The People’s” truck, will participate in races across the country during the upcoming two seasons.

“Chris Lafferty’s #89 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the Tea Party are a natural fit,” said Dustin Stockton, media director for TheTeaParty.net. “We will literally drive ‘We The People’ to the front row in racing and government.”

Stockton dismissed criticism about a political organization sponsoring a NASCAR team. “We don’t see ourselves as a partisan organization. Our goal has always been to recruit and educate people to the benefits of limited government, fiscal restraint, and personal responsibility; that has nothing to do with traditional partisan politics.”

Tea Party Racing.com is a mission-driven organization. The mission components are designed around:
• Representing the people (through sponsorship opportunities)

• Sharing in racing achievements

• Restoring the importance of understanding the Constitution for America’s future.

The diversity of the TheTeaParty.net,  Tea Partiers’ and Race Fans will enable the team to excel both on the racetrack as well as participate in a wide variety of activities and rallies that extend outside of the racetrack.

Cefaratti said, “This is certainly a major win for the tea party movement and the proof that we are HERE TO STAY to recruit and educate Americans on limited government, free markets and personal responsibility.”

TheTeaParty.net is seeking separate contributions to help fund the team and has launched the website www.teapartyracing.com where supporters can offer their support in increments as small as $5.

The team will kick off the sponsorship over the Fourth of July holiday at Kentucky Motor Speedway Race on July 7, 2011 and participate through the 2012 Elections.

About TheTeaParty.net
Founded in 2009, TheTeaParty.net is one of the largest nonprofit Tea Party organizations in the country. Since its inception, TheTeaParty.net has recruited thousands of people a week to the Tea Party movement and offers free tools, a national calendar of events, a Tea Party locator map, and resources to help grow the movement.

Members of the media wishing to speak with a representative of TheTeaParty.net should contact Vicki Dooling at (702) 808-2017 or Vicki@TheTeaParty.net.

"I Want MotoGP back to America

Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director Lin Jarvis, had big dreams for MotoGP return staged in Indonesia.
Therefore, he asked for encouragement from all sides, including the Honda team, in order to urge Dorna (MotoGP rights holders) to realize these targets. We've been told about it officially to Drona and requested strong support to the Honda, including Yamaha's own, that race in Indonesia could be implemented as soon as possible. I hope the Sentul Circuit can be modified, or there is a new circuit in Indonesia in the future. But of course, this also depends on the Government of Indonesia, "said Jarvis, Saturday (06/25/2011), ahead of the MotoGP race at Assen Circuit, Netherlands.

"So, I asked for support from the media and also from industry such as Yamaha and Honda, as well as the Federation of Motorsport Indonesia so that MotoGP could soon return to Indonesia."

Jarvis also hope there are riders Indonesia that could arise in the arena of world motor racing, although not directly to the most prestigious class, MotoGP. He hoped the Indonesian young talent can appear first in the lowest class, Moto3-which replaces the 125cc class next season, got the attention of the Yamaha and Honda.

Indeed, the Sentul Circuit had seized the attention of the world when it became one of the organizers of MotoGP (500cc class at that time still). However, it only lasts until the end of 1997 and thereafter MotoGP never again return to the country.

In an interview in the hospitality Yamaha, Jarvis also spoke on the condition his team now compared to when there is Valentino Rossi. According to him, this time a very harmonious relationship internally because there was no tension between the rider.

"It is very different position when Jorge and Valentino a team, compared with now, because there are two riders are tough competition resulting in a hard internally. It was good, but sometimes can create a difficult situation," said Jarvis.

"But now, Lorenzo was a champion and Spies continues to grow. So, team harmony is maintained because of good relations between the two riders. This is very important for the integrity of a team in a live competition.

"Regarding our current position (in the standings), I was a little disappointed because we finally had to go down. But it might be good for the rider because it is easier to pursue than to defend. Moreover, competition is still very long."

Based on the calendar, this season there will be 19 series, and the Dutch Grand Prix is the seventh series. From the total of the race, Repsol Honda rider, Casey Stoner, topped by collecting 136 points, followed by Lorenzo with 108 points. Meanwhile, Ben Spies, who won the Dutch Grand Prix, now in the order of 6, which stood at 61 points.

Report: Ron Howard signs on to direct Lauda biopic Rush

Filed under:

Ron Howard

Le Mans. Grand Prix. Senna. Even Days of Thunder. Legendary racing films all, but our list is preparing to grow by one more epic saga played out on the silver screen.

That project, as we reported last month, is set to focus on the battle between Niki Lauda and James Hunt in the 1978 Formula 1 World Championship, wherein Lauda suffered a devastating fiery crash at the Nürburgring, coming back to challenge Hunt in one of the closest title fights in racing history. The screenplay's been titled Rush, and now it's got a director.

Paul Greengrass of Bourne trilogy fame was reportedly interested in taking on the project, but the latest reports indicate that Ron Howard will be picking up the bull horn instead. The child actor-turned-director has been responsible for such legendary films as Cocoon, Apollo 13 and Frost/Nixon.

While Howard works on that project, Steven Spielberg and his Dreamworks production company are reportedly considering a second film that would focus in on the life of James Hunt, the unabashed embodiment of male bravado who fought Lauda for the title down to the wire.

We might just have found the oldest unrestored Mercedes still road-worthy. And we found it right here at Cars and Coffee in Irvine, California. It's a 1912 Mercedes 3795, with jaw-dropping brushed aluminium sides. It predates the merger of Mercedes with Benz by more than a decade! Approximately the size of the Gadsen Purchase, this rare horseless carriage could seat a rugby team, is chain-driven with a radiator the size of a ship's prow, and a four-cylinder racing motor. You gotta see this to believe it just as our very own Morgan Patrick did. She also had the chance to ask Mike Koontz of Mercedes Classics Center all about.

He ended the season sixth overall in points, in which he finished second in 5 of the 17 Main Events. In July, Josh spent time preparing for the 'Speed and Style' event for X Games 16. His practice session went from 'landing a backflip on his first attempt' to 'under rotating the next time around.' This horrific crash sent Josh to the hospital with a list of injuries and a whole new respect for the sport of Freestyle Motocross. I caught up with Josh, at Pala Raceway for the DC Moto TF Ride day, where he talked about his rehabilitation, his plans for Supercross 2011, and more!

Josh Hill at the DC Moto TF Ride Day

Angela: Hey Josh, you are looking good. How are you feeling?

Josh: Yeah I am getting better, everything is starting to heal up and I am getting to where I can function normally again. So it is getting better, but I need to focus on getting my body stronger. That is my main thing right now.

BMW M3 CRT Enjoys a Carbon Fiber Diet

BMW has given the M3 saloon, which offers almost the same level of performance as the coupe, a big carbon-fiber booster chair that will make it just as hot as the two-door model. We're talking about a weight loss program that brought the M3 CRT into the world.

Short for Carbon Racing Technologies, CRT sounds like the evil twin of Efficient Dynamics, and has transformed the M3 saloon into something even more special. Looking at the car, nothing makes sense: it looks like a regular 3-series wit...

FTR, the Moto2 chassis manufacturer, has released a Q&A with its Moto Director Steve Bones. Delivering at Charlotte

Charlotte Motor Speedway’s internal road course marks the halfway point to the inRacingNews Challenge championship. With only eight of 12 rounds counting in the standings, and most drivers looking to set their season points totals through those first eight, Week Six was more pivotal than ever for top sim racers like Marius Golombeck in Pontiac Solstice and Gabriel Tobar in Spec Racer Ford. As usual, neither failed to deliver. Golombeck and Tobar continued to pad their championships leads after steamrolling through Charlotte, scoring 197 and 195 points respectively to top their classes. Golombeck took Pontiac Solstice class victories in both of his starts, while Tobar went one for two in SpecRacer Ford; meanwhile, Tobar took poles in both races, while Golombeck took one. Tobar also continued his dominance on the [...]
