NORTHAMPTON, ENGLAND – American Neil Alberico returns to action this coming weekend (June 18-19), when he takes to the cockpit of his Cliff Dempsey Racing entry in the highly-competitive MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain at the Brands Hatch Circuit. The highly-rated rookie, having already impressed onlookers with his speed, skill and determination in his debut European campaign, enters Rounds 10, 11 and 12 poised to challenge for an inaugural series podium result, following a top-five finish last time out in his Ray chassis.
After a month-long break in series action – which featured a quick trip back to the U.S.A. – Alberico is excited to be back challenging for top honors in the British Formula Ford series at Brands Hatch. While the talented Californian does not have the vast experience at the famed English road course that the majority of his competitors enjoy, the high-speed undulating road course suits his driving style. Add in the fact the championship is utilizing the longer 2.3-mile Grand Prix configuration during the tripleheader, there is an opportunity for the reigning Bondurant Championship Race Series champion to further showcase his racecraft skills as he seeks to build on his strong rookie season in Europe.
“I’m really looking forward to the Brands Hatch tripleheader,” stated Alberico. “Both the squad and I have been improving every time we go racing, and we’ve already showed the new Ray GR11 has good pace. The goal now is to put everything together this weekend and challenge for top honors. I can’t wait to get on-track.”
When Alberico begins the fourth event on the 24-race British Formula Ford calendar, he will do so having already enjoyed some good results behind the wheel. Currently ninth in the championship fight, the top Ray chassis racer has earned one top-five and six top-10s in the opening nine races of his inaugural European race campaign, challenging for Rookie of the Year honors.
The No. 22 Lohmann Tapes/Sparco USA/Kartel Motorsports/Murray Motorsport/Ray RaceCar Cliff Dempsey Racing driver will however face an added challenge during the Brands Hatch event. In addition to doing battle against the always challenging British Formula Ford field, Formula Ford hot shots from around Europe will join the action this coming weekend via the opening event of the newly created Formula Ford EuroCup.
The on-track action for Alberico and the rest of the MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain and Formula Ford EuroCup field commences on Friday (June 17) via test/practice sessions at the Brands Hatch Circuit. The chase for top honors at the famed British road course resumes one day later with a morning qualifying run, followed by Round 10 after the lunch break. Sunday (June 19) features Rounds 11 and 12.
